Reward tables are where accounts get quietly overcharged, because three different item families use numbered tiers and named variants that look interchangeable and are not. Every mistake below is one people make weekly.
1. Sculptures — the commander-progression economy
Not interchangeable, despite sitting in the same tab:
| Item | What it does | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Commander-specific sculpture (named face) | Levels that one commander's skills | The core unit of targeted investment |
| Universal Legendary Sculpture ("golden head") | Substitutes for any legendary's sculpture | The most flexible high-end asset you can hold |
| Epic Commander Sculpture | Exchanges for a sculpture of any Epic you already own | ⚠️ except Keira · cannot touch legendaries · cannot unlock a new epic |
| Dazzling Starlight Sculpture | Raises stars, not skills | Blessed and Bundle of are higher-denomination forms of the same star currency |
⚠️ The Epic Commander Sculpture is the one that costs people money. Reward tables displaying it are routinely read as universal sculptures, which materially overvalues the whole row. It feeds owned epics only — it will not unlock anything, and it will not touch a legendary.
The auto-conversion rule that changes strategy
In the legendary chest events, pulling a commander (or their sculpture) whose expertise you have already unlocked does not waste the pull — it **auto-converts to the event's key currency at a fixed rate**.
So maxed commanders in a chest pool are not dead slots. They are a refund mechanism, and deliberately choosing already-maxed commanders as your filler picks is a real discount lever in pick-your-pool events. Most players avoid their maxed commanders and pay for the privilege.
Priority when choosing rewards
| Account state | What dominates |
|---|---|
| Developing | Commander-specific sculptures for your main march — beats everything else |
| Maxed roster | Universal sculptures and Dazzling Starlight (star progress on new releases) |
| Either | Epic Commander Sculptures fall to near-zero value past early game |
⚠️ Never price a reward row by statue count. One universal legendary outweighs a stack of epic sculptures for almost every account past early game. Read the statue, not the number.
2. Tome of Knowledge — the ladder that gets transposed
Commander EXP per tome, from in-game tooltips:
| Level | EXP |
|---|---|
| Lvl 1 | 100 |
| Lvl 2 | 500 |
| Lvl 3 | 1,000 |
| Lvl 4 | 5,000 |
| Lvl 5 | 10,000 |
| Lvl 6 | 20,000 |
| Lvl 7 | 50,000 |
⚠️ The classic error is swapping Lvl 5 (10,000) and Lvl 7 (50,000) when reading reward icons — and the two tiers circulate with wrong colour labels in community tables, so the colour is actively misleading. **The number on the icon is the EXP value. Trust the number over the colour.**
3. "Pick One" Resource Chests
You choose one of four resources; the tier sets the amounts:
| Tier | Food | Wood | Stone | Gold |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | 10,000 | 10,000 | 7,500 | 3,000 |
| Level 2 | 50,000 | 50,000 | 37,500 | 15,000 |
Notice the internal ratio: Stone = 0.75 × Food/Wood at every tier. That 0.75 is a game-wide denomination law, and recognising it lets you sanity-check any reward table at a glance — if a table breaks the ratio, the table is wrong.
Which resource to pick
The chest is a choice, so it is worth whatever your scarcest resource is worth.
Gold is the smallest absolute number and the tightest constraint for most mid-game accounts (tech and training bills), so "always take gold" is a reasonable default. Override it only when a specific bill is the thing actually blocking you this week — a building's stone wall, a training dump's food.
The whale path
Your bottleneck is star progress on new releases, not skills on old ones, so **Dazzling Starlight and its higher denominations are the rows that matter** and universal legendaries are the flexible reserve. Epic Commander Sculptures are noise in your reward tables — read past them.
On pick-your-pool events, the auto-conversion rule is a standing discount you are probably not taking: filling a pool with already-maxed commanders converts at a fixed rate instead of wasting the slot.
The budget path
Commander-specific sculptures for your main march beat everything, and it is not close. A single march built properly outperforms three built halfway.
On resource chests, take gold unless something specific is blocking you. On tomes, read the number and ignore the colour — a mis-read Lvl 5 for Lvl 7 is a 5× error, and at low spend that is a week of progress.
⚠️ Do not let a reward table with many epic sculptures look generous. Count what the statues actually do.
