Refund Policy
1 · Your plan’s reads and Top-Up Credits
Section 6 of the Terms of Service is the authoritative definition. It forms part of these terms, it governs, and nothing in this policy alters it. The definition is restated here because this is the document you open when you want your money back — in the same words:
Your plan’s allowance. Your plan includes a number of full reads each day and a number of deep reads each month. Daily reads renew at 00:00 UTC; deep reads renew at the start of each calendar month (UTC). Unused reads don’t roll over — you are renting capacity for a day or a month, not building a balance.
Top-Up Credits are one-off purchases, offered when they’re available. One Top-Up Credit pays for one full or short answer. A lookup uses no credit. Top-Up Credits never pay for a deep read; deep reads come only from your plan’s monthly deep reads. Top-Up Credits do not expire, and they stay yours if your subscription lapses or you cancel.
Which is used first: your plan’s reads are used first. Top-Up Credits are used only once your plan’s reads for that day, or that month, are used up.
Top-Up Credits are not currency, not transferable, and not exchangeable for cash. They belong to you, not to any one Rise of Kingdoms account.
For refunds this matters: an unused daily or monthly allowance is not a refundable balance, because it was capacity for a period you received. “Unused credits” on a purchase means that purchase’s unused Top-Up Credits.
If a top-up purchase is refunded, we take back only the Top-Up Credits from that purchase you haven’t used. What you’ve already used stays used, and nothing else in your balance changes.
2 · What we will refund
Your first purchase is fully refundable within 14 days, whether or not you have used the credits. We would rather you find out the product isn't for you and get your money back than feel stuck with it.
Later purchases are refundable within 14 days on Top-Up Credits you have not used. Top-Up Credits you have already used on an analysis are not refundable, because the work was done and delivered. If you are in the EU or UK, your statutory withdrawal rights apply to digital services: at checkout you are asked to agree that access begins immediately, and spent credits are non-refundable only where you have given that agreement — where you have not, your statutory rights govern.
You will never be billed more than the cost we quoted you for a query. Per Terms of Service §6b, what we showed you is a ceiling: a query that would cost more stops and asks rather than billing the difference. There is therefore no such thing as an overage refund here — not because we decline them, but because the billing design does not create the situation.
If the service winds down, unspent Top-Up Credits are refunded pro rata. That includes the case where Rise of Kingdoms itself shuts down and there is nothing left for us to advise on. We give notice first, we stop selling Top-Up Credits the moment that notice goes out, and you can keep spending what you hold for the whole notice period — so a refund here is for what is genuinely left over, not for what you were prevented from using. Your plan’s allowance is not refunded, because it is capacity for a period you were served. Terms of Service §9a sets out the wind-down in full, under the same rule.
Statutory rights are unaffected. Where the law where you live gives you more than this policy does, the law wins. Nothing here reduces it.
3 · What we will not refund
We do not refund repeated purchase-and-refund cycles that show the credits were bought to be consumed and reclaimed rather than used.
That is our position, stated briefly. Our merchant of record (Stripe's affiliate, §5) applies its own buyer protections and abuse rules; we do not restate them here, and we do not contradict them.
4 · How to ask
Email support@sageofwar.com with the email address you purchased under. You do not need to give a reason.
We respond within 2 days.
5 · How the money actually moves
Purchases are handled by our merchant of record, which sells the credits to you, processes the transaction, issues refunds to your original payment method, and answers billing enquiries under its own buyer terms.
Our merchant of record is Stripe — specifically Stripe's affiliate Sold through Link, LLC, the legal seller of your purchase.
Once we approve a refund under §2, Stripe executes it to your original payment method. Timing to your statement depends on your bank.
On your card statement, the charge may appear under our payment provider's name rather than ours. We will publish the exact statement descriptor here once we have read it off a real posted transaction — we would rather show you the true string a few days later than guess at one now.
When you buy, you are buying from our merchant of record — the reseller of our service — not from us directly. It collects your billing details for its own purposes as the seller, under its own privacy policy, linked at checkout. It then passes us what we need to fulfil your order and support you.
6 · If we got the answer wrong
If the advisor gave you a wrong answer, that is a different thing from a refund and we treat it differently.
Tell us. We check the answer against our verified record. If the advisor was wrong, we return the credits that answer cost you, and we tell you when the fix has landed.
